Locating Materials

Q. I have a call number. Where do I find the item?

A.Collection Arrangement & Guide to LC Classification Scheme (LCCS). Library materials are classified and given special numbers. This is to ensure that titles under the same topics will be shelved together. The numbers labeled on the spine of the books or on the materials are called Call Numbers.

 

To browse effectively, you will need to be familiar with the Library of Congress Classification Scheme (LCC). Below is a guide to subject groups and their main classes:

A. If you are trying to find theses written by UMT students, the best way to find materials on your topic is to search WebInfoline & Digital Collection link. The database allows keyword searching as well as browsing by author,title and subject. Show the call numbers that you get from WebInfoline to the staff at the circulation counter.
